BiographyJonas Bendiksen was born in 1977 in Tønsberg, Norway. He started his career at the age of 19 as an intern in the London office of the agency Magnum Photos. After completing his internship, he traveled and photographed the fringes of the former Soviet Union for several years. In 2006, he published a book on this project entitled “Satellites.” With a grant from the Alicia Patterson Foundation in 2005, he carried out the large-scale project “The Places We Live.” He has received numerous prizes for his work, including the 2007 National Magazine Award and the prestigious Prize for Photography of the Norwegian Fagfotografers Fond (NFF). In 2008, Bendiksen was appointed to join Magnum Photos as a permanent member. He works for such publications as National Geographic, Geo and the Sunday Times Magazine.
